Bibelot's first ever staff art collective

"All children are artists. The problem is how to remain an artist once he grows up."
-Pablo Picasso

Just like Pablo Picasso, quite a few staff members at the Bibelot have figured out how to remain artists into their grown-up years (and only time will tell if they have the staying power that Mr. Picasso does)!

To celebrate these Bibelot artists, we held our first Bibelot Staff Art Collective last Wednesday at the Saint Anthony Park Bibelot during Park B4 Dark.

The artists featured were Sara Moen, Deb Heath and Kristi Fritsch-Churan.  Together, they sold their handcrafted jewelry, photography, stationery, mixed media, purses, baby blankets, makeup bags, and ipad cases.

I didn't get to go, but some fellow staff folk sent me a few pics from this first ever Bibelot Shops event...

Deb Heath, the photographer of the crew even took some lovely shots of the gorgeous flowers around the Como Avenue Bibelot!

The Bibelot Art Collective will carry on throughout the summer... during every Park B4 Dark event, the Como Avenue Bibelot will feature new staff artists and their creations!

Come on out for the next one on Thursday, July 19th and
SUPPORT LOCAL ARTISTS!

MN made Stationery

I can't resist posting Minnesota Made Products!!!

The Bibelot stationery buyer just handed me a pile of
"made in Minnesota" cards and postcards,
and I had to get them out for you to see!

These are great postcards from Adam Turman...

Adam does screenprinting and produces gig posters and art prints for music venues and art galleries all over the Twin Cities along with other various venues around the nation.  He also creates art for CDs, T-shirt designs for various bands, music venues, record labels, clothing companies, fellow artists, and collectors.  Cool is an understatement.

And these amazing cards are handmade by Beate Dinger...

Beate uses images from an 1880's family heirloom scrapbook in her designs.  They are whimsical and full of joy!

Cindy Lindgren Cards...

Cindy Lindgren is a Minneapolis based artist and enjoys bringing her own style to the Arts & Crafts Movement.  The Bibelot also carries some of her prints!

Cathy Milostan's Heart of the Garden cards...

These cards are individually hand painted by Cathy Milostan.  Each brush stroke is so delicate and each flower is so sweet.  You must see these cards, they are the daintiest little things!

And the NuVue Studio cards and postcards are a throw back to old times...

This Saint Paul company has found old postcard images and recreated them for you to enjoy now!  Each card lets you know what decade the image is from... most seem to be from around the 1940s.

Golly, if it isn't a Keep the Faye POST CARD...

These images have been a Bibelot staple for years!  Everyone remembers the "Marvels of Minnesota," filled with images of the World's largest ball o'twine in Darwin or Paul Bunyon's girlfriend Lucette in Hackensack... all must sees as you travel Minnesota.  Or how about the "Principle Hotdishes by Region!"  If you're headed to Duluth for a family gathering, it will be good to know that Shepherd's Pie will be well received!

If you haven't been in the stores for a while, come on in and check them out!  I have opened boxes and boxes of new things these past few months- we're SURE to have something you need and your friend wants!

Taking a vaca

Hey Bibelot friends!

Just wanted to let you all know that I'm taking a little break from blogging for the store.  I also do the displays at the Grand Ave location and have become a little busier with the summer shoppers (which is a great thing)!

I'll get something new and fun up very soon- it just won't be every Tuesday as is has been in the past.

Thanks for following me and the Bibelot
through this blogging journey!

Lynne Rossetto Kasper Signing!

The nationally known radio host &
cookbook author, Lynne Rossetto Kasper,
was at the Grand Avenue Bibelot last Thursday!

As the process of setting up for her signing went on, a few of us took some photos... there's even a video!  I didn't get every step it takes to get a signing in order, but here's the fun stuff...
  • first, we have to get a hold of their publicist/manager/time keeper and find out a day and time that works for both the author and the store.
  • second, we have to order enough books to keep the customers happy, but not too many so we sit on a bunch of inventory.
  • third, comes the set up.  time to figure out the table, table cloth, food, drinks, etc to serve to customers.
  • time to advertise... you saw it on the Bibelot's website, facebook, twitter, and email
  • then, comes the baking!  Eric, the merchandiser at the Grand Ave store, as well as one of our buyers, Peggy, volunteered to make these amazing Triple Chocolate Brownie Cakes (recipe found in the cookbook Lynne Rossetto Kasper was there to sign).
Here's Eric's pictorial
(a foodnetwork star in the making, if you ask me)...

And the final product...

After all that prep work (there is quite a bit more that i didn't mention), here's what the table looked like before she got there...

Our events are pretty fabulous!

One lucky winner did receive her latest cookbook,
How to Eat Weekends, along with some other
wonderful Minnesota made products!

And here she is, chatting with the customers!

Don't miss our next event... 3 Seams, a children's clothing line benefiting Haiti, will be at the Grand Avenue location this coming Saturday, May 19th from 11am-2pm.

A fresh new look!

The Northeast Bibelot in Minneapolis
is as fresh as a daisy!

Please be sure to swing on through to check it out- you won't be disappointed.

The entrance is no longer on Hennepin
it moved just around the corner on University.

23 University Avenue SE
Minneapolis, MN 55414

You have to see what they did!  It's has a cozier, small town shop feel.  The store has everything it had before- we didn't take out any merchandise (there are a few less socks, I guess), just rearranged it and added a few shelving units.  There's still plenty of space to walk around without feeling cramped... I know that's a reason why a lot of you shopped at the Northeast store.

Here are a few pics of what went on behind the scenes...

The construction crew was there for just a couple weeks and they did an amazing job!

The new space is wonderful and has a great vibe.

Here are a few shots of the store as the staff was putting the store back together...

The Northeast customers and staff have been so patient throughout this remodel... a huge thank you to each and every one of you!

I can't imagine all the work that went in to this immense project-
hats off to you, Molly (she's the manager of the Northeast store)!

You guys did a great job!
