The Event: The Stir

We stirred it up!

The Bibelot marketing gal and myself attended an event this past week.  It was called "The Stir" and was put on by the Women's Foundation of Minnesota.

When we first arrived, there were (what felt like) a thousand women chatting, networking, looking at booths, and meandering.  We jumped into the mix to check out what everyone was doing.

Within a few minutes, the lights blinked on and off and it was time to sit down for dinner and a speaker.  A few women from The Women's Foundation of Minnesota spoke and a woman from Best Buy was awarded the Champion for Equality Award for building women’s leadership and gender equality in the workplace.  Robyn Robinson emceed the event.  There was a little dancing...

We then had a lovely dinner followed by an even more lovely dessert... check out that centerpiece!

Up next was the lovely Lee Woodruff, a New York Times best selling author, contributor of CBS This Morning, mother, and philanthropist.  Her husband, Bob Woodruff, is an ABC news anchor who, in 2006, was critically wounded by a roadside bomb in Iraq.  She spoke of the day she got the news, how she felt, she showed video of her husband's recovery and his relationship with their kids.  It was heartbreaking and uplifting all at the same time.

In all, I did a little networking, had a great dinner, and listened to some inspiring women, it was quite a night!
